Kara's friend Sarah was showing Fair her collection of unique sculptures that she had been collecting for a few years. Ever since she had discovered these sculptures in a studio in Santa Monica, she had been strongly drawn to them. What made them unique in her eyes was their powerful and primal appearance. Despite being formed from bronze, and occasionally soft steel, they looked exactly as if they had been hand sculpted from clay.
Fair was examining them closely to see if she could shed any light on what the artist's production secret was. However, the more she looked, the more she was convinced that it wasn't a molding trick. Even with her super vision, she could see no marks from the molding process. She spent some time trying to calibrate her vision so that she could see the stress lines in the metal under the surface. When she was finally able to focus in properly on the internal structure of the metal, she was surprised to see that it contained a pattern of stresses that corresponded to where it appeared to have been worked.
She turned one of them over and used her own strong fingers to shape the bronze by creating several deep furrows in the metal. When she was done, she examined the stress marks from where her own fingers had worked the metal. She saw that they looked nearly identical to the ones left by the original artist! This proved to Fair that they hadn't been molded at all, they had been created by some powerful machine that had shaped the very metal that was before them. However, when Sarah looked the sculptures over carefully, she could see no way that anything except the fingers of the artist could have shaped them. No machine could duplicate the complex and subtle shapes that they saw on the piece, she told Fair. Fair picked up one of the soft steel pieces and saw the same stress marks. While it may have been remotely possible to have a machine work bronze that way, Sarah was convinced that it would be impossible for any machine to do subtle work like that in steel.
She had no idea how this was possible unless there was someone else on this planet in the same strength class as herself! They both had decided, based on Fair's near demise in the Alps, that their next priority was to search out this mystery artist. If, in actuality, he turned out to be a Velorian or a man from some other super strong race, then it was important to know if he was going to be an ally or an enemy. Aurora really needed an ally at this point.
She had been finding it increasingly difficult to keep track of the Arions and Kintzi and their actions all across the globe. Her company, The New Woman, had grown quite large and had contracts for shows in many cities. Her girls were using this as cover to get out and gather as much information as they could about the aliens. But lately, the lack of clues as to where they were operating was very discouraging. She assumed they must have gone deeper underground since her first contacts with them.
She was especially concerned when she discovered (fortunately for Kara) that one of them had taken an executive role in the movie industry. This suggested that the infiltration went back for some time and that they were putting themselves into normal roles. They had no idea when the Arion had substituted himself for Peter Jones, but the people at the studio said they noticed small changes in Peter about a year before. He had taken some time off and seemed somehow different when he came back.
Fair's biggest disappointment was when Kara showed absolutely no interest in helping her, at least until the episode with Peter at the studio. She had talked with Frank down at the agency and had heard his side of the story. He had told her about Kara's mother and her dedication. Something had gone very wrong with Kara over the years as she felt none of the same responsibilities. She was wasting her incredible powers on making herself popular and wealthy.
Kara had been willing to talk about their plans after the incident at the studio, but she was still much more interested in her modeling, acting and personal appearance contracts than with fighting the Arions. But she was still young and all this new publicity, not to mention her physical abilities, had gone to her head.
She had once again seemed to understand the danger after the incident with the alien mind control device, but she lost interest again after a couple of weeks. Fair knew she could count on her in a pinch, but she really needed her to work full-time on helping her, not just in an emergency.
Meanwhile, Sarah had found the artist very difficult to track down, but she had the right friends in the art world to pull it off eventually. It turned out to be a man who lived fairly near, in central California. He was described to Sarah as a strong, tall blond man who seemed to age much more slowly than one would expect. Some people in the business had known him for nearly twenty years, yet he reportedly didn't look much different today than he did then. Sarah had been told that he was a recluse and impossible to get an interview with. The last woman she talked with said he was very handsome but was very unfriendly and uncommunicative. He lived alone high in the Sierra Nevada mountains simply making his living as an artist molding these metal sculptures. The woman dug up his last mailing address and from that were able to get directions to his house; or at least to his last mailing address.
The two of them drove up to try to find him one Saturday morning. His house proved to be very hard to find as it was many miles from a main road and, in fact, had no usable road to it. They had not been able to get their car up the last five miles of the rough double track road. In fact, it didn't look like any vehicle had been up the old road for many years. They were puzzled as that should not be the case if he was doing heavy metal sculptures. Somebody had to get them in an out.
Fair put her arm around Sarah as she flew the two of them the last five miles up the road. They landed in a grove of trees just below the house. No one answered the door when they knocked, but it was unlocked, so they let themselves in. They saw that the entire house was decorated in the same kinds of sculptures that Sarah had collected. The only exception was one that Fair found that was made of stainless steel. It had a melted appearance as if someone had taken a torch to it after it had been sculpted. Fair was starting to get a good idea where the heat had probably come from as she examined the stainless steel sculpture.
David was working on a large sculpture in the back of his studio when he heard some people up in the house. He focused his eyes on the front of the house to see that the visitors were two very attractive young women. He was briefly irritated at the interruption, but stopped his work to greet them. The last thing he wanted was two nosy women in his house!
He was irritated when he entered the front of the house from his studio. He was planning on sending them on their way as unpleasantly as possible. However, when he walked into the room he was shocked by how attractive these girls actually were! One looked to be about 18 or 19 years old and was very tall, blond, blue-eyed and looked to be very athletic. The other was women was closer to 5'6" and was maybe a year younger. She had dark hair combined with piercing midnight blue eyes. Her physique wasn't as athletic, but she looked very fit, almost like an aerobics instructor would look.
The blonde woman really caught his attention as he saw that she was stunningly beautiful, in an athletic way. He was surprised when he found that he felt very attracted to her. This puzzled him as he couldn't remember the last time any woman had attracted him that way. He watched her for a moment before he suddenly realized what it was. Whenever she moved, she seemed so light on her feet that she almost appeared to float around the room.
David realized from his own experience that this was the sign of extreme physical strength. Several people had commented over the years that he moved the same way. He found himself watching her with more than a little interest as he tried to understand what her secret was.
The dark-haired woman in turn looked like she could walk onto any stage and win any beauty contest. Her handshake was firm as she greeted him and her amazing midnight blue eyes twinkled at him as she stood close to him. He had never seen eyes like those before. There was something about her dark hair, deep tan and incredibly deep blue eyes that startled him. He had never seen that combination of features before.
The dark-haired women introduced herself as Sarah as she told him that she had been collecting his sculptures for several years. She described how they had driven up from LA to see how he made his unique sculptures. The two of them talked about the pieces that she had collected over the last few years. They chatted as David tried to recall the pieces she was describing. Each of his sculptures was different and unique and it took him a while to remember the exact pieces she described.
Sarah finally turned and introduced Fair to him as he held out his hand to feel her firm handshake. As his hand touched hers, he suddenly felt an unusual sensation through his skin. It was almost like a tingling shock, but very pleasant. At the same time as he noticed that she was wearing an absolutely unique perfume. The effect of the perfume, her strong handshake, her glowing blond hair and tanned body seemed to be mesmerizing him! He felt like he was floating, yet he could feel his feet firmly on the ground. He could not remember ever having been affected by a woman like this before. Maybe I've been up the mountains too long, he thought!
He was still holding her hand long after it was polite to do so when he felt a quick surge of strength in her grip. His eyes opened wide when he realized that he had instinctively met her firm grip with his own, at least for a second or two. He normally held people's hands as softly as he could, yet even then, some people would wince from the strength of his handshake. He realized that the strength he had just used should have broken all the bones in her hand, yet she just looked at him with a tiny puzzled smile on her lips.
His eyes rested on her face again as he realized that he had never seen a woman this beautiful before. From her full lips to her high broad cheekbones and large widely spaced eyes, she was like no woman he had ever seen before! His eyes were drawn to the incredibly strong tendons of her neck as he realized that she was also possibly the strongest woman he had ever met.
David asked Sarah to have a seat for a moment as he asked Fair if she would help him in the bar for a moment. As soon as they were in the next room, He stopped and turned to face her. "I'm not sure what you just did", he said. "But I'd like you to try that again." He extended his hand to Fair.
Fair felt David's firm hand tingling in hers again as she started to increase the strength of her grip. She was taking it easy at first and building her strength slowly. She had also learned to be very careful of her strength, particularly her handshake.
It was immediately clear to David that this young woman was far stronger than any Terran woman! He was matching her strength with his own and found that he was nearly straining himself to keep up with her! He could see the tendons on her hand standing up and saw the muscles of her arm flex to an amazing size. He had never seen or felt such power in a woman's arm before! He was further amazed when he realized that he was starting to approach the limits of his own strength, yet the girl had shown no sign of fatigue or discomfort yet!
For her part, Fair realized that her suspicions about him had been right. He had to have a Velorian genetic background based on the amount of pressure he was applying to her hand. She stared at the strong tendons standing out on his hand and wrist as he continued to try to keep up with her.
David finally felt his super muscles reaching their limits as he poured all his incredible strength into Fair's hand. He was astounded when she didn't stop at that point, but continued to increase the strength of her own grip. He saw her beautiful face break into a broad smile as her blue eyes sparkled back at him. He felt his own hand starting to give painfully in her grip and was dumbfounded as he realized that this girl had just overpowered him!
Fair, for her part, exhaulted in the feeling of finally being able to exert her full strength against a man. The feeling of her fully flexed muscles straining, yet not seriously injuring, David's hand was a new feeling as she had never found anything, not even steel nor the hardest rocks, that could withstand her full strength. Yet here, standing next to her, was a man of steel who could do just that! She felt David's hand give slightly in hers at the last moment as she was thrilled by the knowledge that she was still stronger than even this superman. He pulled his hand away and stood rubbing it gently as he looked at her with surprise in his gray eyes.
David could not believe that he had just been overpowered by this girl! This was the first time he had experienced the sensation of being overpowered. His thoughts were completely confused as it was a beautiful young woman who had overpowered him! He had no idea how to react to this.
He immediately saw Fairchild in a totally different light as he began to notice little things about her that he hadn't seen before. He followed her back out into the front room as he noticed that her honey blond hair seemed to create an aura around her head as she moved. His eyes were mesmerized by the sight of the muscles of her calves bunching and relaxing as they seemed to do a little sexy dance in front of him as she walked. My God, he thought to himself, if her handshake was as strong as he had felt, what would those incredible calves be like?
The next few hours proved to be the most incredible in David's life as Fair described where she had come from, her abilities and what her mission was on earth. She told him how she called herself Aurora and what she had done and what her plans were to save the planet. He asked question after question as he became very concerned about what she was telling him. He told her that he would help her in any way to defeat these aliens, both for the sake of Earth as well as Velor.
The burden of worrying about the increased activities of the Arions and Kintzi and Kara's own reluctance to help her was suddenly easier to bear as they talked. She saw David's enthusiasm for her cause as she knew he would really make a difference in her mission. For some reason, there had been things she had never been comfortable sharing with Chris, probably because he had no frame of reference as a Terran. A certain chemistry was missing that she assumed was related to their radically different genetic backgrounds.
She also still missed the closeness she had found in her friend Laura and had never completely gotten over her death. She had an obligation to Chris and he had tried to be a good friend to her, but she knew there were still some things lacking in their relationship that were beyond Chris's ability to provide.
She now felt this incredible burden lifting from her shoulders as she now was with someone who could not only physically help her defeat her enemies, but was also mature enough so that he could emotionally support her as well.
David was shocked as her story had unfolded. He had always thought that he was some kind of freak of nature. He did not remember anything of his youth before the day he found himself on earth, laying flat on his back next to a crashed ship. Like Fair, he had been unable to go back into the ship to retrieve any clues to his past. Unlike Fair, however, he had not immediately shown any signs of extraordinary strength. He always remembered being very strong and difficult to injure, but not so much so that he thought of himself as being unusual. Over the next ten years, however, he found that he continuously grew stronger until he developed the incredible strength that he had today.
He had now been on Earth for more than twenty years without the slightest clue to his origin or background. After Fair finished describing her own arrival and what she had learned about Velorian culture from the documents on her ship, it all started to make sense. David realized that he was undoubtedly here from an earlier failed attempt to insert a protector onto Earth. The amount of Fair's genetic preparation was different from his as the scientists must have assumed that he had been killed before his powers had developed. They had therefore changed Fair's genes so that she would have her full powers as soon as she was away from the influence of Velor's sun.
She also described her friend Kara to him and how she had recently begun to call herself SuperGirl after her namesake character in the movie she was making. This stunned him as he realized that he was now one of at least three Velorians on this planet. Yet he had been isolated all these years!
As Fair was talking, he was becoming more and more aware of her presence in the room, especially after she had described, in a general way, her own abilities. He was momentarily distracted again as a cloud drifted away letting the sun came through the sunroof to light up her blond hair. She seemed to shine with a light of her own as he found he had trouble taking his eyes off her and found it increasingly difficult to continue his conversation. He tore his eyes away from her and stared at one of his sculptures as he continued.
Fair and Sarah listened as he tried to describe his own experiences. His hesitant explanations began to make it clear why he had avoided women for the last decade or so. He described how he had had to be so very careful around women that eventually he lost interest in them completely. They were too soft and weak for him to even touch on a casual basis and he was traumatized from some really bad experiences he had had when he did get close to someone.
Sarah saw David beginning to glance more and more at Fair. She smiled as she realized that he was probably trying to figure out how her relationship with Chris worked. Sarah asked Fair to describe how Chris and she had met. As she described her first few days on the island with Chris, she saw his face opening wide in wonder as he allowed himself to begin to understand the powers that this girl contained in her body.
David had often had very vivid dreams of making love to a woman who could not only withstand his great strength, but could actually match his strength with her own. He had also recently had recurring dreams about a woman who was even stronger than he and could dominate and control him sexually. He had always wakened up thinking how ludicrous and ridiculous such dreams were. He was some kind of freak of nature who would always have to be very careful when touching other people. This had not only been a tremendous source of frustration for him, it had also been the cause of the demise of two of his lovers when he had gotten too excited and didn't hold back enough! However, when Fair described some of the things she had done on the island, he felt his body begin to tingle and found that he was becoming light-headed again.
Fair understood how lonely David must have been these recent years without being able to share himself or his abilities openly with anyone else. She could not understand how David had been able to live alone on this planet without this kind of intimacy, especially given the voracious nature of the Velorian sexual appetite! He must have drawn upon levels of discipline that she would have had trouble finding within herself. She also began to think about how she could ease the incredible pain he must have been feeling from all his years of incredible frustration.
She felt a growing attraction to this man who she knew shared her same incredible synthesized Velorian genetics. His enthusiasm to help her with her mission combined with his quick sense of humor was very attractive to her. She didn't allow herself to think openly of the possibilities between them, but she could feel her mind churning in the background. He seemed to have the same thoughts as he moved closer to her as they sat on the couch.
The day was getting hot so Fair and Sarah walked out to the front porch. David was clearing away their drinks as they took off their warm-ups as they stood in the warm sun. David came back out from the kitchen and nearly stumbled over his own feet as he saw them. Fair was wearing a pair of cutoff jeans and a short torn-off T-shirt and a big floppy sun hat. Sarah had on a pair of bright yellow shorts and a halter top. He was astounded at how strong and beautiful their bodies were. He had seen fitness contests on television and knew right away that these woman fit that mold perfectly. Fair twisted her body from side to side for a moment as she felt the warm sun shining on her shoulders. She leaned backward as she began to stretch out her arms and back.
David was shocked as he saw Fair's T-shirt suddenly stretching tightly across her upper body. Her shirt stretched over the sculpted contours of a maze of rippling muscles from her shoulders down to her waist. Her arms and shoulders really caught his eye as he saw how large her biceps became as she stretched! So much for the fitness model analogy, he thought. He had never seen muscles as large as hers on even the largest female bodybuilder! He also saw that her muscles, like his, had a vastly larger range of expansion than any Terran.
His mouth was still hanging open as she relaxed her body and turned around. She saw his slightly startled expression as she suddenly realized that he had been watching her. She felt a little embarrassed for a moment as she quickly asked him if he wouldn't mind showing her some of the stuff he was working on back in his studio. It took him a moment to realize what she was saying and a moment longer before he could trust his legs to hold him up. He was feeling flustered and a little tongue-tied as he led Fair back toward his studio.
Sarah glanced at their backs as she saw the obvious attraction growing between them. They both were gradually comprehending the fact that they had found a partner of the opposite sex that was a full-blooded Velorian. Based on her friend Kara's own sexual appetite (which she knew was only partially due to her Velorian genes), she could not imagine how David had avoided women for so many years. She also was getting to know Fair well enough to know that there was no way she was going to let him ignore her today!
Sarah excused herself and talked about having to go down into town to do some shopping. David was so focused on Fair as he led her back to his studio that he didn't even notice it when she turned to go. Sarah shrugged her shoulders and left to walk back down the road to the car. She was feeling really happy for both of them as she knew that they were about to experience partners who were their equals for the first time in their lives. She thought about what it would be like if she had Fair's powers and had to always control herself around other people. She grinned as she realized how much different that would be than the uninhibited lovemaking that she and Kevin enjoyed. No way, she thought.
Fair and David walked around the studio as he showed her his work. Their hands started to touch each other more and more as they walked. Fair was amazed as she held David's arm and found that he had the firmest muscles she had ever felt on a man. He may be wearing a baggy sweatshirt, she thought, but he probably has a great body. Fair worked to get him to open up with her by asking him to show her how he created the unique style and texture of his sculptures.
He was at first hesitant to show her. The only other person who had ever seen him working on his sculptures and knew his secret had been one of his former girlfriends. He had shown her all the capabilities of his body and had enjoyed her enthusiasm as she watched him work. She had been thrilled and strongly aroused as he had demonstrate his powers and strength to her many times. In fact, she had become sexually obsessed with his powers and was always finding ways for him to demonstrate them while having sex with her. This was also very pleasant for David until the day he ultimately lost control of his body.
While he had remained shy and secretive since that time, he now decided to ignore his hesitancy. He picked up one of the fresh billets of solid bronze and quickly started to sculpt an image of Fair's face in the metal using nothing except his bare hands!
Fair watched as his strong fingers worked the hard bronze metal as if it was soft clay. He pushed the tips of his fingers into the metal as he formed the eyes and mouth. It looked incredibly easy for him to do as he quickly formed a very attractive image of her face by moving the metal around with his fingers.
David handed another billet to Fair and asked her to try it. He was pleased, and more than a little thrilled, when he saw her strong fingers working the metal at least as easily as his had!
Fair tried to form an image of David's face, but it was immediately apparent that she didn't have a clue as to how to shape it. She did notice, however, that the bronze felt very good under her hands. It didn't squeal and howl like steel did when it was forced into new shapes and it was a lot easier to work with. She finally gave up trying to do anything artistic and proceeded to show off a little. She gripped the ends of the bronze billet in her hands with her elbows to her side and started to press her palms together. She smoothly and easily squeezed the billet until her hands closed together to touch each other. She trapped a large handful of the metal in her palms as she squeezed her hands even harder together until the bronze turned into glowing molten metal. She relaxed the immense strength of her grip as she opened her hands and let the molten metal flow onto the floor.
David felt his legs become weak as he saw Fair easily reshape the solid bronze billet in her bare hands and then turn some of it into molten bronze just by squeezing it! Up until today, no person or machine had ever been able to do that last step except himself! He had a wild vision of what those hands would feel like if she used that strength against his own body. He quickly shook his head to clear his thoughts as he pulled his eyes from her hands. He found she was holding his arm more firmly though as he took her on a tour of the rest of his studio.
Fair took off her floppy hat and shook her hair loose as they walked around looking at the other projects he was working on. David struggled to describe his work as he was incredibly distracted by the sight of her beautiful honey blond hair as it glowed in the sunlight. It was nearly down to her waist but was exactly the same shade of blond as his own shoulder-length hair!
Fair was still wondering what his body looked like, but was unable to tell because of the large sweatshirt and loose pants that he wore. She realized that he was dressed to hide his body, not to display himself as she had a tendency to do.
Out of respect for each other, they had both resisted the impulse to use their super vision so that they could look underneath each other's clothes. She wondered what she could do to help him overcome his reluctance to talk about himself and to make him more comfortable in her presence. She decided to talk about the missing details of her first days on the planet and how she had met Chris.
Fair started to talk more and more about her first incredible days on the island as they walked outside and across the meadow behind the house. She went on to describe her displays of strength and invulnerability as she freed Chris from the smugglers. She saw his face grimace as she described how she had defeated the men. She went into a lot of detail describing her reactions to those unpleasant incidents. She described how Chris had saved her life and how she was 'kirling' bound to him for life. She explained that a 'kirling' obligation ensured that she would protect him from harm, but it was quite different from a marriage or any type of 'significant other' relationship. It was simply an agreement to return the protection that Chris had extended to her.
She also talked at length about how she felt when she first realized how strong she was compared to the other people of this planet. She also described how thrilled she had been when she discovered the mutagenic drug in the supplies from the ship and how it had helped Chris grow strong enough to be a good companion to her, although he was not even close to her own strength.
Parts of the story were all too familiar to David. He had also had a number of incidences with women and men where his strength had led to their unfortunate demise. Several cases were similar to Fair's in that the people had been intent on causing him, or someone else, great harm. He was primarily traumatized, however, by the unfortunate death, in his arms, of the two young women he had cared deeply for. He had had only two relationships over the years. In one relationship, he had kept his powers secret. In the other, he had displayed himself and his powers to his lover. In both cases, however, he eventually lost control of himself in the enthusiasm of lovemaking in such a way as to take the lives of the very women he loved! He found he had been unable to deny or suppress his Velorian birthright of extreme athleticism during arousal. After the women had died horribly in his arms, he had realized that he wasn't going to be able to have an ordinary relationship with a Terran woman no matter how careful he was. He felt he eventually would always make a mistake and his partner would get seriously injured or killed. As a result, he had moved to this remote location and had become distant and unapproachable to everyone, especially women.
As she listened to David talk about his experiences, Fair knew that she would certainly not be injured by his passion no matter how far he got out-of-control. Her head was spinning with the realization of what that could mean. She scanned the area with her super vision to see that Sarah was about four miles down the road and heading toward the car. She also suddenly realized why she had left them alone here.
David had initially felt it was unusual and wrong for him to be attracted to a teenage girl thirty years younger than himself, but he quickly remembered that she was already engaged in a very unusual relationship with Chris. Their unique Velorian heritage allowed them, even forced them, to behave by a different set of rules than Terrans.
David remembered the outfit he had been wearing when he first found himself on this planet. He realized that it was probably an older style of the Velorian clothing that Fair had found in her ship. They talked about this for a while and then decided that they would both change into their native Velorian clothing. It would be a fitting start for two wandering souls to begin to establish some type of bond back to their homeworld.
David excused himself for a moment as he ducked into his bedroom to find the old case with his clothing. He scanned his closets with his super vision until he located it buried in the back under some boxes. He dug it out and laid it out on his bed. Unlike Fair, he actually had several items of clothing from Velor. He had found several cases on the ground next to him as he had woken up after the crash.
It had been so long since he had looked at these strange clothes that he had forgotten what he actually had here. His memory was refreshed as soon as he opened the case and saw the pile of exotic-looking men's and women's clothing. He took them back out to show Fair.
They both sat down and started to go through the various items to try to figure out what was what. Fair had already unfolded her outfit and laid it on the bed. She was surprised to see that most of the clothes in his case were far more substantial than what she had found in her ship. She was ecstatic as she found that there were several items that looked like they would fit her perfectly, at least in the Velorian style of skintight stretch clothing. She picked up one outfit that caught her eye as she looked it over.
It consisted of a pair of thin skin-tight red boots that came half way up to her knee in the front but were cutout in the back so that they displayed the entire back of her leg from her archilles tendon upward. There was a very short pleated red skirt that came down barely to the bottom of her buttocks. It was made from a thin filmy fabric and had a number of pleats. She realized that it looked a lot like what was called a cheerleaders skirt today, but was a lot shorter. She grabbed the outfit and slipped into a bedroom down the hall to try it on.
The top was made from an extremely sheer dark blue stretch fabric that covered the center of her chest but left her shoulders, stomach and arms bare. She realized, as she pulled it on, that it didn't actually hide anything, but it was much more substantial than the tiny halter top that made up the top of her own outfit. This one covered all of her chest from her neck down to below her breasts. Also, unlike her current outfit, this one wasn't going to come off or let her fall out of it no matter how much she exerted herself. She looked in the mirror to see that every curve and muscle of her body was fully displayed under the top, including her very prominent nipples. Even the tiny bumps on her aerola were visible under the incredibly thin tight fabric.
The outfit was stretched so tightly over her body that it felt and looked like a second skin. A large red 'S' was centered between her breasts as the fabric distorted the large letter to match the dramatic contours of her chest. The pleated skirt looked like it would fly upward with any twisting motion she made, but was less likely to fly up in a light breeze.
